Individual & Group Based Parenting Classes

Gain confidence with parenting strategies one-on-one or with a group

Perspectives Counseling offers group and individual parenting education. Our therapists are trained in the Nurturing Parenting Program developed by Dr. Stephen J. Bavolek in 1983. As a founder of Family Development Resources, Bavolek’s program practices a family-centered trauma-informed design with proven effectiveness.


If you are a parent who is struggling with the best way to parent, would like to change how you are currently parenting and would like to understand how to build nurturing parenting strategies, give us a call or send us a message.


Parenting classes are recommended for

  • Military families
  • Teen parents
  • Families involved in divorce
  • Parents of children with special needs or health challenges
  • Families in substance abuse treatment & recovery
  • Court-mandated for parenting classes by the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS)

We provide Certificates of Completion and include pre and post-test results.

We recognize that individuals do not function in isolation, they are part of a family. When one part of the system is off balance, it can affect the entire system. Family counseling can help regain connection, balance, and harmony while discovering how your family and relationship work. You and your therapist will explore new ways to communicate and function. 


Often, families seek therapy for the following reasons:

  • Continual communication breakdowns
  • The family or parenting system is not functioning
  • A traumatic event occurred
