I opened Perspectives to share my knowledge, skill, and passion for helping individuals, families, and groups gain new perspectives and strengths while acquiring lifelong tools and skills that will provide balance and harmony.
My areas of focus are trauma, sexual abuse, adjustment disorder, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and loss and grief. I also have a passion for working with families who have lost someone to suicide.
My clinical approaches include Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Systems Theory, and Solution Focused Therapy.
I am also an Assistant Professor at Aurora University in the MSW program and the Coordinator of the Child Welfare Track. I love teaching and training new social work professionals and sharing my knowledge and experience.
In my free time I enjoy talking to and spending time with my husband and three young adult children. Also, as you look through the Perspectives website you will see many pictures of nature. I love to photograph nature and be present in the outdoors through hiking, kayaking, and practicing yoga.
My motto is: You can do it, you will do it;
I believe in you!

Addressing childhood trauma is something I'm especially passionate about due to many years of working in the child welfare system with children and families.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I am trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and I am a Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional. However, I am equally passionate about helping people who struggle with depression, anxiety, relational problems, adoption, and everyday stressors.
I'm a bilingual (English & Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Domestic Violence Professional with over eight years of experience working with children and families. I'm a bilingual (English & Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Domestic Violence Professional with over eight years of experience working with children and families. My goal is to empower children and families to process their experiences, heal in a safe place, and learn healthy coping skills to adapt along their journey of self-being.
I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, problems with acculturation, domestic violence, and sexual assault, while implementing evidence-based practices such as Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

I began my career in the child welfare field for my passion in understanding the complexities of childhood traumas; the effects of such in adulthood, and the potential for unhealed traumas span over generations.
I worked in an intensive treatment foster care program with youth experiencing significant behavioral challenges, modeling problem solving, healthy temperament and actions in social settings through one-on-one behavioral coaching. My background connected me with my career in supporting individuals in underserved, lower socio-economic communities.
I work to reduce the stigma of mental health by teaching social skills to elementary students, providing school-based therapy services to teens and facilitating support groups for mom.
I specialize in working with adolescents, teens, and adults through individual, couple, and family therapy. My aim is to use empathy for building rapport with clients and providing a safe, comfortable environment to approach depression, anxiety, trauma, and self-esteem through new perspectives.
